German on Saturdays 2024

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
German on Saturdays 2024

This ongoing and progressive, by now Advanced Level (C1.1) program is aimed at students with German language skills equivalent to or around Level B2 competency within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). Students in this popular program are expected to continue working at Upper Intermediate/Lower Advanced Level throughout the year - and beyond.

Being a mix of carefully selected conversational practice, reading and writing exercises, grammar as well as Landeskunde (cultural studies), this course is designed to give students the opportunity to further enhance and apply their German language and cultural skills in a fun and relaxed classroom atmosphere.

Currently scheduled for Saturday June 1, as Semester 1's cultural event, this program is also set to include an exclusive Wine Seminar & Tasting session with Volker Trede, a German-Australian wine industry & education professional, which is set to give an introduction to Germany as a wine country including main wine regions, grape varieties and a few challenging German wine words, give a brief overview of Australia and Germany as competitors in the wine world - and also allow for a side-by-side tasting of key German varieties and direct comparison with respective Australian varieties!
